Close By is a series celebrating the neighbourhoods around our Lee Mathews stores. More than a guide, it’s a way of seeing — uncovering the small, special places that make each location feel like its own little world.

 

Next stop, Avalon — where our store sits between ocean and headland, and where the pace of life feels slower, salt-tinged, and charming. From croissants by the sea to a hidden bistro at dusk, here are a few of our favourite local treasures.

Start your day with a refreshing ocean swim then wander over for a fresh pastry - whether it’s a flaky Danish or our personal favourite, one of their warm buttery croissants. Indulge in their famous Steak Frites and let the team guide you on a wine pairing for the perfect night out. In the summer months request a table outdoors to watch the sun set and town lights come alive.

WINONA WINE

 

5 minute walk

 

A cool little bottle shop stocking quality wines, artisan spirits and gorgeous little knickknacks. Take the afternoon to peruse the shelves before you decide upon a local organic wine and snacks to take to Avalon headland for a late afternoon picnic.

Nestled in the heart of Newport, The Calmm is the perfect spot to take a moment to unwind, relax and celebrate all the amazing things your body can do fo you. The perfect time to slow down and enjoy the little moments with a beautiful facial or massage.

On the opposite side of Peninsula sits The Clareville - a gorgeous cottage style restaurant overlooking Pittwater. Dine in to enjoy a crisp glass of Rosé, fresh local seafood, and exceptional service. We also love the homage to heritage with the team incorporating the head Chef’s fathers handmade Japanese ceramics in their service.
